QSFP+ ESR4 OPTEC, 40G, MM MPO/MTP, 2.5dB (300m), TX850, DDM
QSFP+ ESR4 transceivers (Extended Short Range 4) are high-performance optical modules designed for data transmission at speeds of up to 40 Gb/s, using multimode fiber (MMF). These transceivers are an enhanced version of the SR4 standard and are used in data centers, large-scale server rooms, enterprise networks, and high-density campus interconnect infrastructure.
The transmission technology uses four independent optical channels, each with a capacity of 10 Gb/s, operating at a wavelength of 850 nm. The optical connection is established using a multi-fiber MPO/MTP connector (8 MMF fibers: 4 for transmission and 4 for reception). The main advantage of ESR4 series modules is their extended transmission range compared to traditional SR4 modules (up to 300 m instead of 100/150 m) while using the same multimode fiber cabling. They also provide full support for the breakout function, allowing a 40G port to be directly split into four independent 10GBASE-SR (or 10GBASE-CSR) channels using an MPO to 4× LC cable.
