QSFP+ LR4 PSM / PLR4L (Parallel LR4 Lite/PSM4) transceivers are high-performance optical modules designed for data transmission at speeds of up to 40 Gb/s over medium distances, using single-mode fiber (SMF). These transceivers are used in data centers, enterprise networks, connections between rack cabinets and server rooms, as well as in Internet Service Provider (ISP) infrastructure.
Parallel transmission technology (Parallel SMF / PSM4) uses four independent optical channels with a capacity of 10 Gb/s each, operating at a single wavelength of 1310 nm. The connection is implemented using a multi-fiber MPO/MTP connector (8 SMF fibers: 4 for transmission and 4 for reception). The main advantage of the PLR4 architecture is the ability to flexibly split the signal from a single 40G port into four independent 10GBASE-LR connections using an MPO-4xLC cable, making these modules an ideal solution for flexible interconnection of devices with different port densities.
