QSFP+ OPTEC, 40G, AOC, 10M Active Optical Cable to QSFP+
QSFP+ AOC 40G transceivers are Active Optical Cables (AOC) designed for high-speed data transmission with bandwidths of up to 40 Gb/s. They integrate optical transceivers and fiber optic cable into a single assembly, eliminating the need for separate transceiver modules and fiber patch cords. This enables fast, convenient installation while reducing the number of components in the network infrastructure.
QSFP+ AOC cables are widely used in data centers, campus networks, server rooms, and High Performance Computing (HPC) environments, where reliable, high-bandwidth, and low-latency connections are required. Depending on the version, they can be used for direct connections between devices equipped with QSFP+ ports or for splitting a single 40G QSFP+ interface into four independent 10G SFP+ interfaces (breakout).
Active optical technology provides stable signal transmission over longer distances than DAC (Direct Attach Copper) cables while maintaining low power consumption, excellent immunity to electromagnetic interference (EMI), and high operational reliability. The factory-terminated design eliminates installation errors and ensures consistent transmission performance.
Two QSFP+ AOC variants are available:
- Point-to-Point cables (QSFP+ to QSFP+) - designed for direct 40G device connections (e.g. switch-to-switch or switch-to-server)
- Breakout cables (QSFP+ to 4× SFP+) - split one 40G QSFP+ port into four independent 10G SFP+ ports. This is an ideal solution for connecting servers equipped with 10G network cards or legacy switches directly to a modern 40G network without requiring additional adapters.
