QSFP+ 40G PLR4 transceivers are high-performance optical modules designed for data transmission at speeds of up to 40 Gb/s over long distances using single-mode fiber (SMF). These transceivers are used in data centers, enterprise networks, carrier infrastructure, and Internet Service Provider (ISP) networks.

Parallel transmission technology (Parallel SMF / PSM4) uses four independent optical channels, each with a bandwidth of 10 Gb/s, operating at a single wavelength of 1310 nm. The connection is established using a multi-fiber MPO/MTP connector (8 SMF fibers: 4 for transmission and 4 for reception). The main advantage of the PLR4 architecture is the ability to flexibly split a single 40G port into four independent 10GBASE-LR connections using an MPO-4xLC cable, making these modules an ideal solution for flexibly connecting devices with different port densities.
