Extreme Networks Summit 7520-48YE-8CE Base Unit

Extreme Networks Summit 7520-48YE-8CE Base Unit is an advanced enterprise-class network switch designed to operate in the most demanding aggregation and core environments. This model stands out with high performance, high port density, and built-in support for MACsec encryption, ensuring hardware-level data transmission security.

The device offers 48 × 10/25GbE SFP28 fiber ports and 8 × QSFP28 uplink ports supporting 40/100GbE, enabling it to handle intensive network traffic and modern data center applications. With switching capacity up to 4 Tbps, low latency, and a non-blocking architecture, the switch ensures stable and efficient operation in high-load environments.

The Base Unit version is delivered as a base system with empty slots for power supplies and fan modules, allowing flexible hardware configuration. A rack mount kit is included.

The 7520 series features Universal Hardware, enabling the choice of operating system (Switch Engine - EXOS or Fabric Engine - VOSS), as well as integration with Extreme Platform ONE and ExtremeCloud IQ management platforms. Support for Extreme Fabric provides automation, microsegmentation, and enhanced network security.

Note: the 48YE-8CE model does not support stacking.

Base models of the 7520 series switches do not include power supplies and must be purchased separately. Each device uses two replaceable power modules (AC or DC, including mixed configurations), providing full redundancy and enabling hot-swap replacement without interrupting switch operation.
