Extreme Networks Summit 8730-32D Base Unit

Extreme Networks Summit 8730-32D Base Unit is a high-performance Data Center-class switch designed for building modern backbone networks and Spine-Leaf architectures in data centers, cloud environments, AI infrastructures, and HPC (High Performance Computing) environments. Equipped with 32 QSFP-DD ports supporting 40/100/400GbE speeds, the device provides massive bandwidth and low latency, meeting the requirements of the most demanding business applications and computing environments.

The Base Unit version represents the basic device configuration, equipped with 32 QSFP-DD ports, 2 empty power supply slots, and 7 empty fan module slots, allowing full system configuration according to the requirements of a specific infrastructure. Thanks to the ability to select AC or DC power supplies and the airflow direction variant (Front-to-Back or Back-to-Front), the switch can be easily adapted to standards used in different data centers.

The device runs on Extreme ONE OS – a modern operating system based on a microservices architecture, providing high availability, seamless updates without network downtime, and extensive automation capabilities. The system supports management via CLI, REST API, gNMI, NETCONF/RESTCONF, OpenConfig, and Python, enabling integration with modern network orchestration and management platforms.

The switch offers high switching performance, advanced traffic management mechanisms, and security features such as Secure Boot and Measured Boot, enhancing infrastructure protection against threats from the device startup stage. Support for Precision Time Protocol (PTP v2) and Network Time Protocol (NTP) enables precise time synchronization in environments requiring the highest level of accuracy.

The Summit 8730-32D model also features Integrated Application Hosting, allowing monitoring, diagnostics, and security applications to run directly on the switch without affecting its performance. Additionally, the device includes an RJ-45 console port, two 1/10GbE SFP+ management ports, and a USB port. The package includes a mounting kit for a four-post 19" RACK cabinet.
